Tasting notes
Rich colour with golden tint. Concentrated citrus aromas on the nose, with hints of a smokiness coming from the medium toasted French oak. The palate has a big entrance and is full bodied, well balanced with a long after taste.

Vinification
Hand picked in the cool of the night to retain freshness and flavours. Grapes were whole bunch pressed to lower the phenolic content in the wine. 50% of the wine was fermented with wild yeast. No MLF took place.
Maturation in barrels
Wine was barrel fermented in 80% new and 20% 2nd fill 300 litre French oak barrels and matured for a further 11 months before racking, blending and bottling.

Release date
Elegance, finesse and concentrated fruit reflecting the true character of the cultivar from our soils are the hallmarks of Rijk's Private Cellar wines. This wine was aged in the bottle for 1 year. After many tastings and discussions it was only released in February, 2009.
